Lynn ferry springs into service

April 22, 2024 by Sidnee Short

LYNN — The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority has announced upcoming improvements to the Lynn ferry service, including the addition of weekend trips.

A press release from the MBTA stated that the Lynn ferry will have 10 trips per day on weekdays starting April 29. Minor adjustments were made to the schedule used in 2023 to “better manage ferry movement through the harbor and reduce possible delays due to congested waterways.”

It added that as part of an effort to enhance public transportation in the city, 11 new weekend trips will start running on Saturday, May 25.

The ferry will operate between the city’s Blossom Street Pier and the Long Wharf (North) Pier in Boston until service ends for the year on Oct. 31.

One-way fare for the ferry is $7, or $3.50 for reduced-fare riders. Tickets can be purchased on the mTicket app or with cash on board. Commuter Boat or Commuter Rail Zone 2, or higher, passes and M7 cards are accepted as well.

All ferry schedules are available at http://www.mbta.com/Ferry
