LYNN — St. Mary’s inducted eight new members into its Hall of Fame in honor of their commitment and service to St. Mary’s and the wider community on Thursday.
Those inducted are Bartley J. Conlon of the Class of 1960, Mark Doyle of the Class of 1976, Joanne Eagan of the Class of 1967, Jacqueline Foley of the Class of 1990, Ellen Fritz of the Class of 1986, Mary Magner of the Class of 1967, Ann Mannion of the Class of 1976, and Thomas F. Quinn Jr. of the Class of 1958, who was inducted posthumously.
St. Mary’s described the accomplishments of each of the inductees in a statement.
Conlon was an educator, teacher, director, and coach. He received both his undergraduate and graduate degrees at Salem State University and worked in Lynn’s school district for 40 years, where he taught at Eastern Junior High and then at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute. He was also known for his time as a high-school and collegiate football official and as a baseball coach, leading his 1973 team at Lynn Tech to the MIAA state championship.
Doyle also earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Salem State and worked in financial services his whole life, with his most recent role as a a global chief marketing officer. He also served in many different roles during his time at Natixis Investment Managers. Doyle was also a member of the St. Mary’s Board of Trustees, where he was co-chair for the Ascend 2026 Strategic Plan.
Eagan earned her bachelor’s degree at Salem State and her master’s degree from Emmanuel College, and worked at Sacred Heart School for 31 years as a teacher and then principal. She was referred to as “the champion of the underserved” by St. Mary’s, which acknowledged her work to help the school move locations, add a preschool, and establish new art and technology programs.
Foley earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Salem State and spent 15 years as an English and religion middle-school teacher at St. Mary’s. She then became dean of grades six through eight in 2013 and is still the assistant middle-school principal for the new Tremont Street campus.
Fritz received her undergraduate degree from Assumption University and her master’s from Salem State. She devoted 30 years to Lynn Public Schools, where she worked in many positions, such as a teacher, instructional facilitator, staff developer, and principal. Fritz is also a member of the St. Mary’s Board of Trustees, and was a co-chair for the Ascend 2026 Strategic Plan.
Magner received her journalism and political science degree from Marquette University and has been working in public relations and advertising for more than 25 years for New England Telephone, Nynex, and Verizon. She is also on the board of directors at My Brother’s Table and has also been on the board of Greater Lynn Senior Services and Lynn Economic Opportunity.
Mannion earned her bachelor’s at John Carroll University and has worked in banking for more than 40 years. Throughout her career, she has been the manager of Century Bank and associate manager of Eastern Bank’s Market Street branch. She also spent time on the St. Mary’s Finance Committee and is currently on the Finance Council at Saint Mary of the Sacred Heart Parish.
Quinn received his undergraduate degree from the University of Scranton and worked as an insurance broker for more than 50 years, finally opening his own company, Quinn of Lynn Insurance, in 1990. Quinn also devoted his time to serving as a clerk magistrate in Lynn District Court, serving from 1969 to 1992. He was a part of many boards in the city’s community, including the Lynn YMCA, Nahant Lions Club, Kiwanis Club, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Knights of Columbus. He died in 2017 and is now the second member of his family to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, after his father, Dr. Thomas Quinn Sr.
