In a statement not said by many: Is it Monday yet?
The Peabody and Swampscott girls lacrosse teams dominated Thursday – in high-scoring fashion – ahead of their powerhouse clash on Monday. That one’s slated for 4:30 p.m. in Swampscott.
With Masconomet taking a trip to Peabody Thursday, it was sent home with an 18-11 defeat. Better yet, two Tanners reached milestones. Ally Bettencourt (7 goals, 4 assists) netted her 100th goal, while Brooke Lomasney (6 goals, 3 assists) snatched point No. 300.
That wasn’t all. Madi Barrett (2 assists) scored five goals, Arianna Alvarado added a helper, and the reliable Caitlin Snow made seven saves between Peabody’s pipes.
Oh, and you can make it eight wins in nine games for the Big Blue, who played true to their name in a 15-0 thrashing of the Gloucester Fishermen. Dynamic goal-scorer Avery Laundry led Swampscott with four goals and a helper.
Everyone ate in this one. Offensive production came from Coco Clopton (3 goals, assist), Sophia Ciciotti (3 goals), Chloe Puzzo (2 goals, 2 assists), Mia Leone (goal), Mia Dahlman (goal), Madeline Goldman (goal), Cecilia Tripp (assist), and Lia Beatrice (assist), while Lilah Caplan stopped all four Gloucester shots.
Talk about Northeastern Conference dominance. Peabody sits at 8-2 overall, while Swampscott is 8-1.
GIRLS LACROSSE

Marblehead 12
Marblehead (4-6) held a 7-5 halftime cushion in this one, but couldn’t pick up the road win in Danvers. The Falcons flew away in an offensive afternoon, 13-12.

BASEBALL
Lynnfield 9
Ipswich 1
Lynnfield’s baseball team took care of host Ipswich – and then some – in a 9-1 final. Sophomore Luke DiSilvio (7 IP, 3 H, 4 K, ER, 0 BB) put on a clinic on the bump.
“That was his first varsity win,” said Lynnfield coach John O’Brien. “He has a nice fastball and he’s doing very well.”
Madux Iovinelli led the offensive charge, going 3-for-4 with an RBI double. The Pioneers connected on nine hits ahead of their 2 p.m. visit to Triton on Saturday.
Lynn Tech 5
KIPP 2
In an old-fashioned “good game” at Fraser Field, according to KIPP coach Jim Rabbitt, his Panthers fell short against Lynn Tech on Thursday.
“We were looking to get back on track tonight and I believe we took a step in the right direction,” said Tech coach Eddie Lewis. “Led by Will McCafferty, who only gave up one hit the entire game, it was a great team effort behind him tonight.”
McCafferty punched out 12, while Tech’s Eddie Lewis Jr. connected on an RBI to break things open in the sixth inning (4-1, Tech). Mario Giordano and Nevin Gonzalez delivered base hits.
“From the dugout to the field, the energy was there all game long and these guys made play after play,” Lewis Sr. said. “I’m proud of the effort they displayed today and I give them all the credit in the world to just keep working hard – win, lose, or draw. I couldn’t ask for a better group of guys.”
GIRLS TENNIS
Lynn Classical 5
Salem 0
Classical brought out the brooms on Thursday, taking care of the visiting Witches in 5-0 fashion. Amber Soto, Linda Jallow, and Diana Quach cruised in singles, while Sandra Tang and Isabella Pha took care of first singles. From there, Emma Field and Bridgett Toomey closed things out with a doubles win.
VOLLEYBALL
Lynn Classical 3
Wakefield 0
In just its second season as a varsity program, Classical’s boys volleyball team qualified for the Division 2 state tournament on Thursday, defeating Wakefield, 3-0, on the road. With seven matches to spare, the Rams sport a record of 10-3.
In set scores of 25-17, 28-26, and 25-19, Leonardo Cruz had eight kills, seven aces, and nine digs. Long Pham went home with 18 digs, no serve receive errors, an ace, and an assist.
“We have Malden on Monday and if we have any hope of capturing the GBL (Greater Boston League) title, we better bring our A-game,” said Classical coach Chris LeBlanc. “I’m very proud of the boys for making it to states in our second year as a program. They have worked really hard and deserve to celebrate a little, but it’s back to work tomorrow at practice.”
