Celebrate mom by decorating a vase in Nahant

NAHANT — The Nahant Public Library will be celebrating moms early this year with its Make a Mother’s Day Vase event on Friday.

“I have various glass vases of different sizes and colors and shapes for adults or kids or teens to come in and decorate,” Library Director Nori Morganstein said.

Morganstein recommended the event for anyone older than 4 and said that she has Mod Podge that people can use to attach tissue paper, twine, paper hearts, and more to their vases.

The idea came to Morganstein when she saw the sheer amount of vases the library has.

“When I became the library director, not that long ago, I inherited a large amount of vases, and I wanted to get rid of them without adding to an environmental problem. I thought, ‘What a good way to reuse the vases in a helpful way,’” she said. “I’m hoping we get a lot of people who want to do this project.”

Morganstein urged people to register for the event by calling the library at 781-581-0306 or by emailing [email protected] so she can make sure she has a vase for everyone.

“It’s just a good opportunity to celebrate those who can sometimes be overlooked. It’s a good time to call or send a card, or make a pretty vase,” Morganstein said.

The event will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. at the library.
