Lynn Superintendent of Schools Dr. Evonne Alvarez joined Attorney James J. Carrigan on his LCTV show, “The American Dream,” this week to discuss some of the district’s accomplishments during the past year and how it is looking to address the challenges it is facing.
The show is “designed to give viewers a behind-the-scenes look at how public and private policy is developed,” according to Carrigan.
During the conversation, which ran for just less than half an hour, Alvarez described the age of some of the district’s schools as a challenge, and said at least six of Lynn’s elementary schools need to be taken offline. She said that the idea would be to replace them with one or two large elementary schools.
“Feasibly, I don’t know what year we’re looking at in terms of when that could happen,” Alvarez said. “That just all depends on revenue that the city’s able to generate.”
The show airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., and Saturdays at 7 a.m. on Comcast Channel 3 and Verizon Channel 38. It can also be watched online at www.Lynntv.org.
