DANVERS — The top 5% of high-school seniors from public and private schools on the North Shore were recognized at this year’s Honor Scholars Recognition Dinner on Thursday.
The dinner, which was hosted by the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, filled a packed ballroom at the DoubleTree Hilton.
In a statement, the chamber wrote that more than 300 students from 30 schools were selected and attended the event. The students honored at the dinner attend schools in a number of cities and towns in the area, including Lynn, Lynnfield, Peabody, Marblehead, and Swampscott.
The event’s keynote speaker was Tim Collins, the CEO of EBSCO, the dinner’s premier sponsor this year. In his speech, he discussed six things that he considers principles for success: balancing thinking and doing, staying positive, being your word, helping others, being driven, and minimizing regrets.
Collins then handed out certificates to each of the students, while teachers, local officials, family members, and business officials cheered on the honorees.
Lynn Vocational Technical Institute Principal Fred Gallo shared his appreciation for the school’s students who were honored at the dinner.
“It’s so exciting to get to see the hard work of these students recognized,” he said.
