To the editor:
Amazing the magnificence that but for a catch of the eye can go unnoticed and not accorded due recognition.
There at the end of a very brief obituary for Irene “Renee” Venezia-Dublin, age 79, in Friday’s Item was what starts out as a standard listing: “Renee leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, and over 300 foster children she cared for since 1984. She will be remembered as a mother to many, known for her generous heart and vibrant spirit.”
” … over 300 foster children she cared for since 1984!!!” Wow. In addition to the lovely “homegoing service” for Renee at the First Baptist Church in Saugus at 11 a.m. on May 17, in a just world there’d be a statue of her in an appropriate setting… replete with halo. What a blessed, wonderful human being.
