You know what I’ve been thinking? Lynnfield’s boys lacrosse roster is so well-constructed. I wish I could say the same about the Bruins.
Dynamic goal-scorers, unselfish playmakers, physical defenders, and a strong goalie – that’ll, pretty much, do it. The Pioneers sport an 11-2 record, and this week has been no less dominant.
Just Tuesday, a 9-6 win against Ipswich, Will Norton equaled the opposition’s scoring output himself, netting six. Mike Murphy added two goals and two helpers.
Norton scored another six in Lynnfield’s 16-4 victory against Amesbury earlier in the week, while Kelan Cardinal dished out five assists and Owen Considine went home with a hat trick.
Add two more wins over Dracut (9-6 final) and North Reading (15-6), and what a week it was for the Pioneers.
And while the offense was wheeling-and-dealing, Ben Pimentel was superb between the pipes. He made 10 saves against Ipswich and has received lots of vocal support from coach Pat Lamusta this spring.
Lynnfield visits Newburyport at 4 p.m. on Thursday in a tough test. Talk then (rain impending).
Pioneers, ranked No. 6 in the MIAA Division 4 power rankings, good week.
