The Tanners traveled up to Salem and made sure the Witches didn’t have a chance at winning. The Tanners topped Salem 13-0.
Peabody’s pitcher, Avery Grieco, stole the show, throwing a perfect game. Grieco pitched all five innings and struck out 13 Witches and earned the win from the circle.
On offense, Kiley Doolin (3-for-4) hit a home run and registered two RBI, while Lizzy Bettencourt (2-for-4, 1 RBI) , Logan Lomasney (2-for-3, 2 RBI), and Abby Bettencourt (3-for-4, 1 RBI) all registered multi-hit games.
Peabody’s next game is on Tuesday when it hosts Beverly at 4 p.m.
SOFTBALL

What a season Marblehead softball is having. The 15-2 Magicians (11-2 in the NEC), got another dominant performance from pitcher Tessa Francis.
Francis gave up two runs on six hits, while striking out 14 Falcons. Francis has surpassed 200 strikeouts on the season.
On offense, both Hailey Schmitt and Tessa Andriano went 3-for-4. Andriano and Luka Bornhorst recorded two RBI each.
Ruby Calienes , Sophia Hallisey and Ashley Mortensen all had two hits each in the win.
Saugus 2
Masco 1
It took eight innings, but the Sachems (8-9) got the job done defending home field against Masco.
Taylor Deleidi got the win on the mound going all eight innings and striking out eight batters. Deleidi helped herself at the plate going 2-for-4 including the game-tying single in the bottom of the eighth inning.
With bases loaded and two outs, shortstop Devany Millerick, hit a walk-off single to right field to give the Sachems the win.
Ava Rogers in the top of the eighth with one out and a runner at third, a line drive down the third baseline would have got past most fielders, but Rogers dove for the ball and caught it. Then Rogers had the awareness to quickly tag the third base runner out to get out of the inning.
“It was a huge and much-needed win against a strong Masco team,” Saugus coach Steve Almquist said.
Saugus will travel to Watertown on Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. start.

The Spartans won on their Senior Day. Seniors, Michaela Walker (1-for-2 with 2 RBI), Alyssa Soule (1-for-3), Gabby Marichal (2-for-3 with a run scored), Ashanti Pardilla (1-for-3 with a run), and Lorynes Suriel, all impacted the game to get St. Mary’s back to winning ways.

It was an evening to forget for the Big Blue.
Swampscott’s offense was led by Olivia Barletta. Barletta went 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI. Teammate Lauryn Fahey had two hits and a walk.
Swampscott’s next game is on Tuesday when it resumes its previously suspended game against Lynn Classical at 4 p.m.
BASEBALL

The final game for the Panthers (1-14) ended in defeat in eight innings. KIPP’s Morenel Castro went the full eight innings striking out 10 and allowing two earned runs.
Gloucester 4
Saugus 2
The Sachems surrendered three runs in the first two innings and couldn’t bounce back. Cam Bernard got the start going five innings allowing five hits, striking out four, and two earned runs.
On offense, Nathan Soroko, went 2-for-3 with a run scored and two stolen bases.
Saugus will look to get back to winning ways on Wednesday when it travels to Danvers. First pitch is scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

St. Mary’s (14-4) offense couldn’t get hot when it needed it too. Spartans pitcher Jack Zimmerman pitched eight innings including a perfect seven-inning start. Zimmerman allowed just two hits and struck out 12.
Isaiah Weston had St. Mary’s only hit of the game.

Marblehead got off to a fast start scoring two runs in the top of the first inning, before adding insurance runs in the fifth.
Chris Cannuscio went seven innings on the mound striking out seven and allowing just two hits and one earned run.
At the plate, Cannuscio went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

The Bulldogs couldn’t stop the high power Patriots offense.
Gamalier Calderon was on the mound for Lynn English. Calderon pitched five innings striking out five, and letting up six runs (five earned).
The lone two hits for the Bulldogs came from Alijah Wallace and Guilmer Galva.
BOYS LACROSSE

Peabody 1
The Panthers (10-6) defense was too strong for the Tanners (5-12). Beverly opened up the game with a goal from Aidan Sullivan in the first quarter to give them a 1-0 lead.
Beverly added three more in the second quarter to lead 4-0 at halftime. The halftime adjustments weren’t enough as the Panthers poured in three more goals to go into the fourth quarter up 7-1.
Sullivan finished the game with two goals and eight assists.
Peabody will look to rebound on Wednesday at Gloucester.

Swampscott 18
Danvers 6
The Big Blue (13-2) got another big-time win against Northeastern Conference foe Danvers. The Falcons were no match for Swampscott who tripled its score.
Avery Laundry scored seven goals to lead Swampscott. Chloe Puzzo (4 goals, 1 assist), Coco Clopton (3 goals, 2 assists), Victoria Pierro (2 goals, 3 assists), Sophia Ciciotti (1 goal, 2 assists), Cecilia Tripp (1 goal), Fiona Keany (2 assists), and Mia Dahlman (1 assist) were the point leaders for the Big Blue.
Swampscott got everyone in the game and star player Clopton was dominant in the draw.
Swampscott’s next game is on Wednesday when it hosts Melrose at 7 p.m.

Thanks to a five-goal, two assists, and four ground ball performance from Gretchen Smith, the Magicians (6-11) took home win number six on the season.
Ramona Gillett (3 goals, 4 assists) and Maddie Forbes (4 goals, 2 assists) helped power the Marblehead attack.
Kathryn Commoss, Rachel Delisle, Caroline Scroope, Whitney Jellison, and Avery Wysor all got on the scoresheet.
Molly Bullard made 11 saves in net for Marblehead.

The Pioneers got the job done against fellow Cape Ann League rivals.
Lynnfield remains on the road for its next game when it travels to Essex-Tech on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. night game.
BOYS TENNIS

The Magicians protected home court with a sweep against Newburyport.
Despite the match being a sweep, the first and second doubles teams had to withstand pressure to get the win.
Junior captain Jayden Janock and Junior Leo Winocour beat Senior Caden Eiserman and junior Brindley Fisher 6-1, 2-6, 6-2.
“Jayden and Leo dominated in the first and third sets,” Marblehead coach Elisabeth Foukal said.
Then in second doubles, Marblehead junior, Anthony Vizy, and Freshman, Ty Cooper, beat Newburyport juniors Sam Brickman and Conner DeMann 6-2, 7-6 (7-5).
“Marblehead was playing from behind in the second set but forced a tie-breaker in which they were down 2-5 but won the last 5 points in a row to win 7-5,” Foukal said.

Classical couldn’t find a way past Malden on Monday. The loss moves the Rams to 7-5.

The Eagles remain perfect (15-0) with a sweep at Lexington.
John DeAngelis won at first singles 6-1, 6-1.
Third singles Luke Free had a setback in the second set, (6-1. 3-6, 6-0), but rallied back in the third set to put away Lexington’s Darius Jin.

Lynnfield’s Dan Levin won the first set 6-1, but in the second set, Levin found himself down 0-5. Levin rallied back to stun his opponent and win 6-1, 7-5.
The Pioneers move to 13-1 this season and 9-0 in the Cape Ann League.

The Marblehead girls tennis team closed out the Northeastern Conference with a stunning 5-0 sweep of the Witches.
First singles Maddie Conlon, third singles Hannah Atkinson, and first doubles Aoife Bresnahan and Lucia Levin all won 6-0, 6-0.
The Magicians are done with the NEC, but they have tough competition coming up including welcoming the Lynnfield Pioneers to Marblehead on Tuesday at 4 p.m.

A Northeastern Conference rival match between the Big Blue and the Sachems saw Swampscott take the victory on Monday afternoon.
Swampscott’s first singles, Anna Eccles, didn’t lose a set sweeping her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Sydney Antonelli at second singles won 6-3, 6-4.
The doubles team continued to show its chemistry. First doubles Victoria Quagrello and Eve Byrne won 6-2, 6-2. Second doubles, Ava and Alexia O’Donnell, prevailed 7-5, 6-3 to ensure the Big Blue victory.
Lynnfield 5

Paige Martino (first singles) and Maddie Sieve (third singles) swept their respective opponents 6-0, 6-0 for the Pioneers.
Lily Alves (second singles), Letica Marafon and Ella Hayman (first doubles), Vicky McCrann and Emma Wagon (second doubles) all picked up wins for Lynnfield.
Lynnfield (10-5) travels to Marblehead on Tuesday for a showdown with the Magicians.

The lone winner for the Rams was first singles Amber Sotomayer. Sotomayer won her match, without dropping a set, 6-0, 6-0. Sotomayer remains undefeated this season.
Classical will get ready for its rivalry match against Lynn English on Wednesday at 2:30 at Breed Middle School.
VOLLEYBALL

It was a tough day at home for the Rams (13-6) losing in three sets (18-25, 17-25, 18-25). The loss puts Classical’s GBL record to 7-6.
After Classical’s Kenzel Lantano 21 assist performance, Lantano now has 518 assists on the season which breaks the school record (513) that was set by Karim Chinchilla last season.
Long Pham had 13 digs and two aces in the loss.
The Rams have one more game left in the regular season when it travels to Somerville for a conference game.

The Tigers (9-8) couldn’t get the road victory on Monday losing in three sets (21-25, 23-25, 18-25).
Felipe De Oliveira had 20 digs while Elmer Duran had 12 assists, nine digs, three aces, and two kills for Lynn Tech.
Keury Mena added eight digs and four kills, while Ederick Gonzalez had six kills and four digs. Didlaire Jacques Jr. had four kills, four blocks, and three aces to steady Lynn Tech.
Track and field
Lynn English finished third out of eight teams at the Greater Boston League Championship.
Jade Quero took home third place in the 100 meters while Maddy McHale took third in the 800. Both the 4×100 and 4×400 took first place for the Bulldogs.
