LYNN — Lynn Classical and Lynn English competed in the Greater Boston League Championship Track Meet in Somerville. Both schools left with their fair share of highlights.
Starting with the girls, English finished third with 75 points, while the Lady Rams scored eighth with three points.
Talk about an event to remember. In the action-packed 100m, English’s Jade Quero placed third in 13.44, while Jania Cooper (13.94) checked in at sixth.
In the 200m, the Bulldogs took home fourth (Abety Kivagheni: 28.25) and sixth (Nina Ly: 29.57).
Running over to the half-mile run, Madisen McHale showed her speed around the track, clocking in at third place with a time of 2:43.74.
Two miles was no problem for Lynn Classical’s Mariana De Leon, who placed third with a time of 14:46.46 in the event.
In the 4x100m and the 4x400m relays, the Bulldogs were the fastest. They ran the 4x100m in 53.38 and the 4x400m in 4:37.19. English also took home fourth place in the 4x800m with a 13:02.46.
Lynn Classical placed fourth in the 4x400m with a 4:48.94, and fifth in the 4x800m with a 13:56.89.
Then, there were the field events. English’s Danivel Diroche finished third in the high jump with a leap of 4-8.
In the triple jump, Kivagheni scored third with a 31-7 jump. Gianna Martins (2nd, 85-1) and Liana Hernandez (4th, 81-5) performed well in the javelin.
As for the boys, the Rams finished one spot ahead of the Bulldogs with 11 points, while English finished with 10.
Classical’s Jabin Pierre took third place in the 100m with an 11.48, with teammate Anthony Rodriquez finishing sixth in 11.67.
Rodriquez wasn’t done, also finishing fifth in the 200m (23.66).
For English, Eamonn McHale finished second in the 800m with a 2:05.35, trailing only Revere’s João Victor Cunha (2:05.04). With his finish, McHale qualified for the State Meet this Friday. You could say there is plenty of speed in Lynn, and some of these athletes are just getting started.
