LYNN — Two males drowned in the city in separate incidents on Sunday night.

At 7:19 p.m., the Police Department’s dispatch received a call regarding a drowned person at Lynn Reservoir off of B Street.

Police Lt. Paul Cotter said police and firefighters dove into the reservoir in search of the victim, found him, and pulled him out of the water.

“They immediately provided medical aid, CPR, to the victim. He was transported to Salem Hospital,” Cotter said.

Any other details regarding the victim’s identity have not been released as of this time. It has not yet been determined when the victim died.

“(Police, firefighters, and EMS) tried to give the best chance to the victim and exhausted all options by transporting him from the scene and to the hospital to get more advanced care to try and save his life. But at some point, he did pass away,” Cotter said.

Around four hours later, at 11:01 p.m., dispatch received another call regarding another drowned person at Sluice Pond off of Wendy Way.

“Prior to the arrival of the officers, (he) was pulled from the water by bystanders or neighbors that located him or saw him in the water,” Cotter said. “We arrived a very short period of time thereafter.”

The victim was also transferred to Salem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Cotter said the two incidents are currently under investigation by both Lynn Police detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigation Division  Unit and Massachusetts State Police troopers assigned to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

“It appears to be two tragic incidents that happened in a matter of hours in two separate locations,” Cotter said. “But it does not appear, at least to my knowledge at this point, that there’s any connection (between) the two incidents.”

The causes of death and the circumstances that led to the drownings are under investigation at this time.
