LYNN — East Baptist Church will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Friday at 6 p.m. More than 100 people are expected to be in attendance at 300 Western Ave., many of them former members and pastors who will share their memories and the history of the church.
The event will include a banquet on the campus where the pastors, elders, and members of the church have been meeting since 1962.
“We have a 20- to 25-minute video celebrating the last 150 years of God’s faithfulness here at East Baptist,” Associate Pastor Brian Gawlak said.
The celebration will continue during the morning worship service on Sunday at 10 a.m. Songs that were sung in the old church on Union Street and at the service when the current location first opened in 1962 will be sung.
During the service, members old and new will be honored by name and awarded a certificate with the numbers of years they have been a member of the church. Those who have been members of the church for more than 50 years will also receive a rose as a form of appreciation for their commitment and consistency.
