With June right around the corner, events marking the start of Pride Month will be held in Lynn, Marblehead, and Swampscott on Saturday.
LYNN
United Lynn Pride will get the month rolling with the Youth Pride event from 12 to 3 p.m. at Frederick Douglass Memorial Park and the Lynn Museum.
The Youth Pride event is an opportunity for the city’s young people to connect with peers and celebrate diversity and tolerance. Celebrations will include performances by local youth and activities and resource tables to help young people connect with other organizations in the community.
The LGBTQ+ Art Gallery, showcasing creative works by LGBTQ+ identifying artists from the city, other areas of Massachusetts, and even across the globe, will be open at the Lynn Museum throughout the month.
MARBLEHEAD
The town will celebrate the beginning of Pride Month with its fifth annual Pride flag-raising ceremony on the lawn of Abbot Hall from 3 to 3:30 p.m.
The event will be open to the public and include a variety of speakers including town officials, clergy, youth, and members of the town’s LGBTQ+ community.
SWAMPSCOTT
In celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, the town will kick off its activities for Pride Month with the Run with Pride 5K, which will begin at Town Hall at 4 p.m. and end back at Town Hall at 7 p.m. Participants will be able to enjoy complementary yard games, face painting, and other forms of entertainment. The Run with Pride 5K is open to anyone who wants to participate. There will also be a Pride flag-raising ceremony with guest speakers.
