PEABODY — The Police Department announced that it has arrested two juveniles for their alleged involvement in a May 21 shooting on Littles Lane, according to a release from the department.

According to a police log sent by the department on May 22, a resident on May 21 at around 6 p.m. reported approximately 30 shots fired by a gunman in a red sedan, with no reported injuries. Another caller also reported that his motor vehicle was struck by gunfire.

The two juveniles were arrested on warrants issued by the Salem Juvenile Court, and they will be arraigned for six counts of assault to murder, five counts of assault to murder with a firearm, one count of destruction of property, and two counts of malicious damage to a motor vehicle, according to the release.

Police Chief Thomas Griffin said that the Peabody Police Patrol Division and Criminal Investigation Division worked tirelessly on the case, and also thanked Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker’s office and the Massachusetts State Police for their assistance. Griffin also commended the efforts of the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council SWAT team for safely apprehending the two suspects.

“The collaboration and dedication of our law-enforcement partners were instrumental in swiftly bringing these suspects into custody,” Griffin said. “This case exemplifies our commitment to ensuring the safety and security of our community, and we will diligently continue to investigate this incident to the fullest extent possible.”
