LYNN — The Lynn Family Resource Center hosted an ice cream social, dishing out Hoodsie Cups, popsicles, and Rocket Pops on Friday.
The center also offered free summer items such as sunglasses, beach shovels and buckets, bubble bottles, and sunscreen, as well as clothing, jackets, books for all ages, and hats.
Program Director Olivia Grinstead said the center wanted to promote safety this summer through the event by offering tips.
“We are always here for whatever you need,” Grinstead said. “All of our services are always 100% free.”
“This is such an amazing event to kick off the summer,” School Liaison Dymond Kelsey said.
Austin Knightly, who was volunteering for the event, said he thinks it was a great initiative to promote summer safety.
“I think it’s a really good idea that they’re trying to provide resources for the community, especially now that it’s summer that they’re giving out tons of buckets for kids to be able to make castles out there,” he said. “There are lots of jackets and materials that they can use too.”
Nicholas Saroufim, who was also helping out with the event, said it represented a good opportunity to get in touch with the community.
