The Henderson-Bertolon Simulation Center will open its doors on Wednesday at North Shore Community College’s Danvers campus.
The center was created to address the nursing shortage and workforce skills gap. The presentation of the dedication of the center will run from 5 to 7 p.m. and the speaking portion is planned between 5:30 to 6 p.m.
The center is a fully immersive hospital simulation center that runs cross-disciplinary scenarios and utilizes live actors and observation rooms for faculty to observe and instruct as simulations are ongoing. The center readies students to become nurses with practical experience and have specializations in the areas of respiratory care, pediatric care, surgical technology, and more.
The programs provide the training and experience needed to be successful in today’s health-care careers, including enhanced health-care simulations that allow students to apply theory and skills to real-life situations and advanced technology for electronic medical record software training.
Recent graduate Jose Barada will be on hand to discuss his experience training at the simulation center and how it has affected his work in the field.
Massachusetts Secretary of Education Dr. Patrick Tutwiler, a former superintendent for Lynn Public Schools, will attend the event. Also in attendance will be state Sen. Brendan Crighton, state Rep. Kristin Kassner, state Sen. Bruce Tarr, and state Rep. Sally Kerans.
