SAUGUS — The Cultural Council laid out its plans for the town’s Cultural Celebration event at its meeting on Monday night.
Council members voted for the event to be held at Saugus Middle/High School on Feb. 23, 2025 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. However, this is subject to change as approval from other parties is still required.
The event will feature a wide variety of performances from different groups showcasing their cultural backgrounds.
While council members said the attendance of any specific performers, ranging from dance to music and potentially theater, has not been confirmed, they will be inclusive in their representation of the cultures that make up the town.
Food also remains a question for the event, as licensing and other permitting is likely to be required. All of the members of the council agreed that food is a key point in spreading cultural awareness.
Rodolfo Saldarriaga, a new member of the council, suggested creating a way for attendees to share home recipes.
While the council is currently reaching out to local visual artists to display their art at the Cultural Celebration, questions remain regarding what space will be available to display it properly.
The event will also have activities for children. Council member Vanessa LeFevre floated potential ideas such as a ball pit, bounce house, and arts and crafts.
