LYNN — St. Pius V School, in the Flax Pond section of the city, is elated after receiving top marks and high praise from the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
Every 10 years, independent schools have accreditation teams visit schools for two weeks to evaluate the school curriculum, faculty, faith formation, students, facilities, goals, projects, future growth, etc. The accreditation teams are made up of principals, teachers, and staff from schools throughout New England.
In the final report, St. Pius V School excelled in all facets of the requisites and was labeled a school of excellence for the North Shore.
“We are thrilled by this report,” Vice Principal Darlene Hallisey said. “The results of the NEASC report affirms our staff’s hard work to encourage and support the needs of the whole child — academically, spiritually, socially, and morally.”
The NEASC motto is “Improving Schools, Empowering Students, and Promoting Excellence.” NEASC serves as a framework for schools to meet their unique goals for student learning while maintaining alignment with research-based standards of high-quality, effective learning communities.
Emotions and pride ran high as Principal Mary Beth Noe announced the result of the NEASC accreditation report to the faculty.
“St. Pius V School brings out the best in people. It is the presence of Christ that is felt here that leads us to live our motto: ‘Do you best and be kind to others,'” Noe said.
