BOSTON — Twenty-five high-school seniors from Lynn, Boston, Brockton, Lawrence, and Worcester gathered at the State House on Tuesday to accept a total of $50,000 in scholarships. Five Lynn students received a combined total of $10,000.
Students can use the award for either post-secondary education or job training.
The 2024 Lynn Keolis Scholarship awardees are Jordan Alas, Salone Dugue Lopera, Janice Cabral Martinez, Shady Osorio Sandoval, and Anderson Blanco Zapata.
The scholarships are gifted by Keolis Commuter Services, the operating partner for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s Commuter Rail.
In a press release from Keolis, it said that since the 2015-16 school year, in collaboration with cities and school districts with large populations of underserved communities and first-generation families, Keolis has selected its scholars and distributed the scholarships based on merit and financial need.
“This year’s scholarship recipients are a bright and accomplished group of students,” state Sen. Brendan Crighton said. “Thank you to Keolis for their continued commitment to academic achievement and for investing in our communities.”
