LYNNFIELD — The School Committee introduced Morgan Festa as the new Lynnfield Community Schools program coordinator during its meeting at the Merritt Center.

As LCS prepares for SOFA, its summer day-camp program that will run from June 24 to Aug. 9, Festa said she is excited for its unique catalog of activities.

SOFA is located at Lynnfield High School and offers half-day and full-day programs for students in pre-K through middle school for seven weeks of the summer.

“My goal is to continue to make Lynnfield Community Schools grow… A huge goal of mine in the future is to continue to get familiar faces working our programs and our after-school programs because kids love it when they see their teachers working the programs,” Festa said. “As I learn this role, I appreciate feedback (and) suggestions about things our community wants to see run. If there’s something that we don’t have that your kids are interested in, I want to hear those things.”

Committee Chair Kate DePrizio said that as a parent, she was impressed by Festa’s open communication with the public.

“You were so engaged and ready to help the community,” DePrizio said. “It really shows.”

Committee Vice Chair Kristen Elworthy said that SOFA’s catalog is continually expanding.

“As a working parent, being able to drop your kids off in one location and not running all over the North Shore trying to bring kids to camps is really huge for the summer,” Elworthy said.

The committee will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, June 11 at 6 p.m.
