PEABODY — The Police Department arrested a man accused of drug possession and animal cruelty, according to a press release from the department.
Duarte Silva, 47, of 105 Goodale St., was charged with possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute (cocaine) and three counts of animal cruelty after the execution of a search warrant.
“This is a testament to the hard work of our officers and supporting agencies to keeping Peabody safe,” Police Chief Thomas Griffin said. “We will continue to pursue and dismantle drug operations and address animal cruelty in our community.”
According to the release, the operation which resulted in Duarte’s arrest was a combined effort of the Peabody Police Criminal Investigation Division, Peabody Police Patrol Division, NEMLEC SWAT Team Animal Rescue League of Boston, Lynnfield Animal Control, and Revere Animal Control.
The Police Department “remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents through diligent investigation and enforcement efforts,” the release reads.
