LYNNFIELD — Connor’s Kindness Project, a local nonprofit founded in 2021 by 15-year-old Lynnfield resident Connor Wright, received $10,000 as recognition of one of the 2024 Myra Kraft Community MVP Award winners.

As the foundation’s founder, Wright said he was nominated by a member of the foundation’s board of directors. He found out he was one of the recipients of the 2024 Myra Kraft Community MVP Awards during the middle of May. “It was a moment of pride and felt like all the hard work and dedication was being acknowledged in a special way.”

Wright said he plans to use the $10,000 award money to grow all of the projects, including distributing more Kindness Kits and “investing in the growth” of the Kids Kindness Club. “The funds will help us with our growth and goal of helping and inspiring more and more children.”

Connor’s Kindness Project has donated over 6,000 Kindness Kits since 2021 and plans to donate over 4,000 this year, Executive Director, and Wright’s grandmother, Sharon Marram said.

Each kit includes a combination of a mini Lego set, Bombas or Notes to Self socks, Etch A Sketch, Play-Doh, slime, crayons, a coloring book, stickers, a Foldscope, MadLibs and Pop It, according to their website.

The kits are delivered to children in hospitals and shelters and are meant to be “entertaining, comforting and fun for children in challenging situations,” the website stated.

The website allows for people to donate by purchasing items for the kids directly.

“I hope the recognition can help Connor’s Kindness become a well-known organization and increase our group of supporters,” Wright said. “This recognition will help raise awareness about our mission and the work we do. With increased visibility, we can attract more volunteers, donors, and partners. This support will enable us to extend our reach to all the places and people that need our support. Ultimately, we aim to create a ripple effect of kindness, inspiring communities to come together and support one another, making a positive impact on society as a whole.”

Connor’s Kindness Project is currently running their “Got Sneakers” Fundraiser until July 31. Community members are encouraged to search gotsneakers.com for more information to donate sneakers.
