SAUGUS — A GoFundMe page has been set up for Kai Burgos, who was killed at the age of 17 in a shooting outside of the Market Basket in Lynn on June 15.
Burgos was beloved in the community, with many across social media sharing well wishes to his family and friends, and describing moments when they crossed paths with him.
He is survived by his siblings, Sarah and Ocean, and his mother and father, Jane Thramer and George Burgos.
Danielle Marie, who created the GoFundMe, described Burgos as a hard worker who had an entrepreneurial spirit like his mother. She said that Burgos and his mother had a “bond like no other.”
“No parent should ever experience the pain of losing a child with a bright future,” Marie wrote.
The page, as of June 20, had raised $23,550.
In a statement made to the Saugus High School community, Principal Brendon Sullivan said that now is the time to come together and support one another.
The details surrounding Burgos’ death are still ongoing and under investigation.
“We will not stop until those responsible for this outrageous act of gun violence are held accountable,” Lynn Police Chief Chris Reddy said.
