SWAMPSCOTT — The fourth annual Garden Art Walk is returning to town this coming Saturday, June 29 at 11 a.m.
The event, founded by ReachArts Community Arts Center, was originally designed to be a safe gathering during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic by taking place outdoors. However, it has since become a yearly tradition.
“Swampscott residents and out of town visitors are all invited to come enjoy the beauty
of Swampscott, festivities, and community hospitality,” ReachArts Pat Gorham said in a press release.
The four-hour free event invites residents to tour more than 60 gardens and open studios of a variety of creators.
Some of the art forms slated to contribute to this year’s themes of “creativity and community” are woodworking, painting, music, poetry, and word art. Notable groups scheduled to play a role in the festivities include Swampscott Unites, Respects, and Embraces Diversity, the Swampscott Conservancy, and the Swampscott Police and Fire Departments.
“The goal is to get people outside and moving, and just being able to appreciate what people are doing,” ReachArts Co-President and Director Heidi Shear said.
The most notable addition to this year’s walk are two shuttle vans provided by the town that can transport attendees in between the Yellow Primrose, Lilac, and Beach Roses Neighborhoods.
Information about the walk, including maps, can be found on ReachArts website leading up to Saturday. 89 Burrill St. will serve as the central location for all information on the day of the walk. More than $2,000 worth of raffle items will be awarded. The items were provided by the event’s sponsors which include Staples, Lowe’s, and the local Coastal Collective Art and Gifts on Humphrey Street.
