LYNN — The Demakes Family YMCA of Metro North welcomed Karina Teixeira as the new Senior Branch Executive Director. Teixeira has more than 15 years of service with the YMCA of Greater Boston.

“(Teixeira) is joining us at a pivotal time as we look forward to the development of our Youth and Teen Center spaces, and as our membership and programming continues to grow in our new facility,” said Kathleen Walsh, President and CEO of the YMCA of Metro North.

Teixeira previously served as the Executive Director of the YMCA of Greater Boston’s Huntington Avenue branch, the first YMCA in the country.

In the beginning of Teixeira’s career, she focused on child development, supporting and leading summer camp and out of school programs.

Teixeira has also held the role of Director of Operations for the Oak Square Branch, managing the budget and working on enhancing program quality and care. Most recently, she was the Executive Director of Teen Development.

“My time with the YMCA has allowed me to help young people become socially responsible leaders within their communities,” Teixeira said. “I look forward to bringing this same energy and dedication to the Lynn community.”

In addition, according to a YMCA press release, Teixeira has served as the co-chair of the Latino Resource Network Group and supported global diversity initiatives. She currently co-chairs the YMCA National Achievers Network, offering strategic support for philanthropic, programmatic, and operational efforts for Black and Latino Achievers Programs across YMCA’s nationwide.
