SAUGUS — A garage at 4 Aspen Terrace caught fire on Tuesday afternoon, and fire departments from different municipalities responded to the scene.
The fire, which initially was reported as showing smoke, was quickly upgraded to a first-alarm fire as the one-and-a-half-vehicle garage became engulfed in flames.
The Saugus, Lynn, and Wakefield fire departments responded to the scene.
The top portion of the garage seemed badly marred by the fire, covered in black soot, with the upper portion of the garage partially collapsing and a section of the roof caved in.
Saugus Fire Department Deputy Chief Tom D’Eon said that while a large majority of the fire was contained to the garage, there was thermal damage to the fence of a neighboring home and, additionally, potential flame impingement.
D’Eon said that the Fire Department was able to respond quickly and did an excellent job in quelling the flames.
The fire was quickly downgraded to a working fire, and then entirely extinguished, with no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire will be determined by the fire marshal upon further investigation.
