LYNN — The Boys and Girls Club raised $70,000 at its Send a Kid to Camp raffle fundraiser on June 20.
Despite the heat, more than 120 people showed up to support the organization at Camp Creighton. The funds will be used to support the summer-camp programs.
There were special performances and appearances by the club’s dance team, Youth of the Year Ruby Contreras, and past campers.
The grand-prize raffle winner of $10,000 was Johnny Long. There were prizes for best dressed in keeping with the event theme of “Through the Decades: ‘’70s, ’80s, ’90s.” There was a live-auction item of the GE suite for a Red Sox game that included 22 tickets.
Guests enjoyed food, drinks, music, socializing, nostalgia, and a giant candy bar filled with a variety of candy from the three decades.
“The funds raised at this event will provide summer-camp opportunities and programming to youth who may not have otherwise been able to access them,” Boys and Girls Club Executive Director Brian Theirrien said. “We appreciate the support of our sponsors, event committee, board members and staff who helped make it a huge success.”
