You know what I’ve been thinking? John Nasky couldn’t have scripted it any better.
When I asked the former Lynn Classical football star if Wednesday’s Agganis All-Star Football Game was a storybook ending, he answered without hesitation.
“Definitely,” Nasky said on the Manning Field turf, the night’s only fitting location.
That’s because, in South’s 27-16 win against North, Nasky hauled in seven balls for 162 yards and a touchdown – all from his partner-in-crime at quarterback, Brian Vaughan.
The two connected down the left sideline with Nasky turning on the afterburners for some extra yardage, but that wasn’t their biggest highlight – not even close.
In the fourth quarter, with North making a second-half comeback attempt, Nasky caught a short ball before taking it 79 yards to the house.
Ballgame, with Nasky taking home Most Valuable Player honors.
“I have high hopes for myself every time,” he said. “We go through trials and tribulations every day. Playing on a hot one, it doesn’t matter.”
It’s as if that touchdown was the cherry on top of a perfect senior year. For the 6-5 Rams last fall, Nasky led the state in receptions (94) and totaled 1,223 yards to go with 14 TDs.
John, good week.
