LYNN — A kitchen fire that spread into the walls of 28 Arlington St. was contained to the first floor on Wednesday.
Lynn District Fire Chief Joseph Zukas said when the Fire Department arrived there was “smoke puffing out of the attic.”
He said during the assessment of the fire he found “several illegal apartments” in the basement of the complex, as well as on the third floor.
“If it happened in the middle of the night, there could have been a fatality,” Zukas said. “Thank God this fire wasn’t worse.”
