SWAMPSCOTT — Psychiatrist Dr. Dennis O’Neil was named the Department of Massachusetts Disabled American Veterans’ outstanding employee of the Department of Veterans Affairs’ Veterans Health Administration.

The Swampscott resident graduated from Boston University’s Chobanian and Avedisian School of Medicine. He is currently the staff psychiatrist at the Lynn and Haverhill veterans clinics.

“Dr. O’Neil is well regarded by the membership for his caring and dedication in serving the veterans of the North Shore,” E.F. Gilmore Swampscott and Lynn Disabled American Veterans Cmdr. Jeffrey Blonder said. “Dr. O’Neil has been practicing at the VA for over 10 years. In addition to seeing patients at the VA, Dr. O’Neil mentors and assists new physicians.”

Lynn and Swampscott Director of Veterans Services Mike Sweeney echoed Blonder’s sentiments, noting that Dr. O’Neil is “incredibly well respected for the good work he does.”

Dr. O’Neil was originally nominated by the Lynn/Swampscott DAV.
