LYNNFIELD — The Fire Department rescued a dog that had gone missing and was stuck in the marsh area at the end of Wirthmore Lane.

The department responded to a call on Sunday morning reporting a dog in distress, according to a Facebook post made by the department.

According to a post in the “Lynnfield Community Group” Facebook group, six-month-old Frankie, a 45-pound black, white, and caramel male Bernedoodle, went missing near Wirthmore Lane and Main Street on Saturday.

The Fire Department said Frankie was spotted in the marsh area.

Animals do not typically get stuck in these marshes and this was a unique occurrence, according to the department.

Engines 1 and 2 assisted in rescuing the dog, which was shoulder-deep in the mud, the department said. Frankie was then reunited with his owner.
