LYNNFIELD — The Police Department has warned residents of an increase in motor vehicle break-ins throughout the past week.
“Over the past several days, we have responded to numerous vehicle break-ins throughout Lynnfield,” Police Chief Nick Secatore said.
In the department’s police logs from June 28 to July 5, there were reports of eight motor vehicles being broken into on Saturday, June 29 and Sunday, June 30.
Two of the reports, both of which occurred on June 29, were from Hampton Court, according to the police logs.
Additionally, there were two reports of motor vehicles being stolen on June 29.
One caller reported their vehicle was stolen from Haywood Farm and said they tracked it using an AirTag to Homestead Road. Another caller reported their vehicle was stolen from Jordan Road, according to the logs.
Of the eight break-ins, three callers reported that their vehicles were broken into overnight.
According to the department, the vehicles that were broken into were all unlocked and two of the vehicles that were stolen had the keys left inside.
“We would like to remind residents to lock your cars and trucks and take the keys when they are not in use,” Secatore said.
The department encouraged residents to call 781-334-3131 to report anything suspicious or make a report.
