You could say, there was no shame in it. The Lynn Babe Ruth 15/16-year-old All-Stars came up short in their Regional quest, falling to Pittsfield in Tuesday’s semifinal matchup. The final score favored the opposition, 4-2, in Augusta, Maine.
“Hard-fought game from start to finish,” said Lynn manager Sam Ohannesian. “We weren’t able to capitalize on big chances throughout the game. We are extremely proud of the fight these young ballplayers showed throughout their run.”
Trailing, 4-0, in the sixth inning, Lynn found its rhythm and plated a pair of runs. That said, it was too little, too late. Lynn was outhit, 6-5, and committed two more errors (4-2) in this one.
But there were plenty of positives. Kalen Huddle, Gilbert Peralta, and Rowan Merryman registered big hits, while Brennan Malloy punched out two batters across 3 2/3 innings. Braeden Ohannesian and Jake Peterson struck out one man apiece.
Malloy (2 BB), Peterson, Devin Duval, and Mark Walsh all picked up walks, while Pittsfield’s Connor Paronto impressed on the other side. He went 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run.
