LYNN — The 10th Annual Youth Summer Track Series held its second meet this week. Manning Field in Lynn saw 46 new kids register to run some laps. In total, 181 runners were present.

Let’s start with the 30-meter race. Amarah Hawkins, age 3, took home first place with a 7.2-second finish. Three-year-old Talia Robinson (10.7) and 1-year-old Taia Robinson (21.0) finished second and third, respectively. All three runners hail from Lynn.

On the boys’ side, Raheem Vorn, of Lynn, captured first with a 9.1-second finish. Jose Munoz Veliz (11.5) and Carter Hawkins (12.7) rounded out the top three.

In the mile, Lynn sported some quick runners in the girls’ division. Maria Villalba crossed the finish line first with an 8:01, followed by an 8:10 from Gisell Rodriguez. Jennifer Matul came in third with a 9:53, while Salem’s Abigail Lamothe finished just six seconds behind Matul.

Villalba also competed in the 100-meter race, to which she finished fifth with a 15.1-second finish. She also took home first in the 400-meter race, as her 1:21.4 time was good enough to beat runner-up Wilmarilyn Fernandez by just under two seconds.

The boys’ mile came with a few sub-seven minute miles. Peabody had a strong showing with two runners placing in the top three. Luke Murphy had the fastest time with a 6:16, just narrowly ahead of Lynn’s Franklin Maldonado (6:19). Peabody’s Allen Trainor’s 7:31 time was good enough for third, followed by Lynn’s Liban AbdiKadir (7:49).

The ever-so-exciting 100-meter race saw the fastest of the fast go at it. For the girls, the top-six finishers live in Lynn. Gianna Gallo claimed the fastest time with a 13.2. Jireilis DeJesus (13.6), Edwiqe Naretel (14.1), Wilmarilyn Fernande (14.3), Maria Villalba (15.1), and Karlia Marcia (15.6) rounded out the rest.

Gallo wasn’t done there, however. She also finished first in the 200-meter race with a 35.3-second time, which was two seconds faster than second-place runner Abigail Murphy of Salem. Gallo also took home first in the 50-meter race with a 7.8.

For the boys’ 100-meter race, Algenys Velez registered an impressive 12.1-second time with Franklin Maldonado finishing a half-a-second behind with a 12.6. Louis DellaGatta and Jared Maldonado took home third and fourth, respectively, while Peabody’s Brandon Wozniak (15.3) captured fifth place.
