LYNN — After four weeks of intense basketball in which kids from grammar, middle, and high school competed to sharpen their skills, champions were crowned at Marshall Middle School on Wednesday.
Kicking off the Lynn Summer Evening League championship festivities were the grammar school teams of Xtreme Silk Screen and Full Color.
Xtreme Silk Screen lost a one-possession game, as Full Color walked away victorious, 19-17. Leading the way for Full color was Juan Osorio, who netted 10 points. Despite the loss, Allen Pichardo went out on a high, scoring eight.
The middle school championship kicked off straight after the grammar school trophy celebration. It was another close game as Accurate Graphics took down the Committee to elect John Jay Walsh by a score of 57-53.
You could say, when the lights are brightest for all of the marbles, Nicholas Morgen comes to play. He scored a game-high 22 points to help catapult his side to victory.
Leading the way for the Committee to elect John Jay Walsh was Cassius Sensibaldi, who scored 19 in the loss.
In the final game of the day, Lynn Police fell short against The Lazy Dog Sports Bar, 57-53, in high school action. Sensibaldi scored a game-high 18 points in defeat. For the winners, Nick Morgan paced his team with 14.
After the trio of title games, Director Geanni Byrd gave a special shoutout to those who helped make the summer possible.
“I want to give a special thank you to my staff. Thank you to Kenny Turner, Giovanni Jean, Ryan Fraher, Jarell Byrd, Neisha Brown, Denzell Ovando, and Roger Ennis,” she said. “Also, a special thank you to all of the parent volunteers.”
