LYNN — Construction officially started along the Lynnway for the last stretch of the Northern Strand Community Trail on Wednesday.
The construction will take place Mondays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
According to a press release from Marshall Hook, communications project manager for Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the shared-use path along the Lynnway will be between Market Street and the Nahant Road rotary.
A travel lane will be permanently eliminated, with a 10-foot-wide two-way bicycle lane installed.
“Drivers traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution,” the press release reads.
The last stretch of the Northern Strand Trail will have a total length of 1.9 miles. The final path will connect six communities with a non-motorized transportation option for travel and recreation.
