PEABODY — Jenny Usovicz began her new role as the assistant director at the Peabody Institute Library on July 22 after serving as the head of children’s services for two years.
“I’d been hoping for the next step up in my career and I was looking for more of a leadership position,” she said.
Usovicz said she was also hoping to work with Morgan Yeo, who was hired as the director of the Peabody Institute Library in May.
“She has a lot of great new ideas and we’re already working really well together,” she said. “Hopefully the two of us can work on some bigger programs and bigger citywide events.”
Originally from Beverly, Usovicz said she has been working in libraries since 2018.
“(I) just loved libraries,” she said. “I studied English in undergrad, so I feel like this was kind of my path.”
She said her favorite part of working as a library administrator is the people in the community.
“I still love just meeting all the people in Peabody. Just the people interaction is so fun. That’s why I work at a public library and not an academic library,” Usovicz said. “I definitely want to do more community outreach and be more involved in city events going forward.”
