Dr. Judy Josephs in the Lynn Community Access Television Studio (Judy Josephs )

Lynn educator shines light on success

LYNN — Anyone with access to cable TV can tune into Lynn Community Television on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. for a local educator’s brainchild, “The History of Success.”

During “The History of Success,” Dr. Judy Josephs joins local nonprofit and organization leaders and their members in discussing their impact on the community.

Josephs earned a Doctorate in Education in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, as well as a Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University. Along with teaching throughout her career, she was a school counselor and co-op director at Lynn Tech for several years.

She said she created the show because the North Shore of Boston is “an impressive area.

“There was so much negative news, especially during COVID-19,” she said. “I wanted to focus on successful and wonderful things in America that are part of our local community.”

Josephs has produced 80 shows in the studio with her director and former student, Pedro Diaz.

“He is just wonderful,” she said. “He is so sharp with his abilities to be able to complement everything that we’re doing.”

Josephs writes and the show, but she said Diaz’s direction “adds the flavor, making it a very classy show.”

She said LCTV is one of the most modern facilities for a station and almost feels like a miniature national production studio located in downtown Lynn.

“I think it’s so very important that it is located in an inner city with so many things happening that are good,” Josephs said.

Having recently interviewed Salem State President John Keenan, Executive Director of Economic Development and Industrial Corporation Jim Cowdell, and Essex County Sheriff John Coppinger, she said her favorite part of creating the show is having the opportunity to meet so many incredible community members.

“Lynn is surrounded by some of the most amazing communities,” she said. “So we have good things happening everywhere, but all of those (communities) affect each other.”
