LYNN — Gannon Municipal Golf Course held a Massachusetts Senior Amateur qualifier Thursday morning.
Jay Fiste led a large contingent of Gannon golfers attempting to qualify for the championship proper, which will be held at Salem Country Club on Sept. 23-24. He shot 5-over 75 and was one of 11 players who made the cut (76).
Other qualifiers included medalist Paul Murphy (Charles River Country Club), who led all golfers with a 2-over par 72. Also qualifying were Michael Corbin (73; Mount Pleasant Golf Club), Shawn Seybert (74; Segregansett Country Club), Matthew Dunn (75; Wachusett Country Club), Charles Tyner (75; Maynard Golf Course), Peter Ellison (75; The Meadow at Peabody), Kenneth Gys (76; Mount Pleasant Golf Club), David Miller (76; Needham Golf Club), Jeff McCowan (76; Beverly Golf & Tennis Club), and Jonathan Nekoroski (76; Salem Country Club).
Rob Granahan (Concord Country Club), Paul Sweeney (Bass Rocks Golf Club), Fred Mather (Country Club of Halifax), and Christopher Mellen (Salem Country Club) posted rounds of 77 to earn spots as alternates.
