LYNN — School Committee member Sean Reid has earned several more endorsements in the race for State Representative for West Lynn and Nahant to replace outgoing Rep. Peter Capano.
Reid is running against Councilor-at-Large Hong Net in the primary election, which will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The new endorsements include Massachusetts and Northern New England Laborers’ District Council, the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE), Local 2168, and Neighbor to Neighbor Massachusetts Action Fund.
The Massachusetts and Northern New England Laborers’ District Council is a labor group representing more than 20,000 workers and 33 Locals to strengthen collective power and bargain for better wages and benefits. Joseph Bonfiglio, the district council business manager said Reid is being endorsed by the organization because he is well acquainted with the challenges faced by working families and tirelessly fights to improve their lives.
“We know that he doesn’t let up when it comes to advocating for workers,” said Bonfiglio, “(We) look forward to working with him on Beacon Hill and in his district to deliver for our members and our communities.”
NAGE represents 22,000 workers in more than 60 state agencies. “We are proud to support Sean because we believe he will be a strong ally to our members and their families on Beacon Hill,” said David Holway, NAGE National President. “His experience and dedication to public service will allow him to be a strong voice for working families on day one.”
“Throughout this campaign, I’ve received endorsements from all sectors that focus on a wide range of issues,” Reid said. “But what they all have in common is that they represent the interests of everyday people, and that’s exactly what I will do as State Representative.”
