On Wednesday, Sept. 11, the the E. F. Gilmore DAV of Swampscott/Lynn will be sponsoring a breakfast to honor all veterans who have served since Sept. 11, 2001.
The breakfast will be held at the Swampscott Senior Center at 200R Essex St. and begin at 8:30 a.m. In addition to food, drink, and good company, there will be information on the recent passed Massachusetts HERO ACT and Federal PACT ACT.
These two bills greatly increased the benefits for post-9/11 veterans, according to Jeffrey Blonder, commander of the E. F. Gilmore DAV. There are still veterans who do not understand all the benefits that they are entitled to. There will also be officials available to assist veterans filing claims for VA benefits, Blonder added. There is no cost to attend the breakfast but an RSVP must be made by calling Blonder only at 617-967-6892 by Sept. 8.
