Lynnfield’s Carrabis’ Section 10 to be feted at Fenway

LYNNFIELD — When it comes to having a good week, it couldn’t possibly get any better than the last few days for Lynnfield’s Jared Carrabis and his Section 10 Red Sox podcast co-hosts Coley Mick, Steve Perrault and Tyler Milliken.

After a two-year hiatus, the show (formerly known as Name Redacted while Carrabis served as baseball content creator at DraftKings) returned to the streaming airways in March and has gone viral across Red Sox Nation.

Section 10 aired its 500th episode on Sept. 1. Featured and frequent guest Brock Holt, who was also in the building, said he “couldn’t believe we made it this far.”

The next day, the gang was honored at Polar Park in Worcester by the WooSox, which dedicated the game as Section 10 Night. Carrabis, a Saugus native, and company threw out ceremonial first pitches and were presented with personalized WooSox jerseys.

“The WooSox were great to us. They gave us access to their players, so we grabbed interviews with Quinn Priester, Kristian Campbell and Kyle Teel,” Carrabis said. “They gave us a tour of their entire facility, we threw out the first pitch, and then they facilitated a meet-and-greet for us that was supposed to be innings three through six, but ended up being the third inning through the end of the game because it was the longest line they had gotten all year. It was awesome. It far exceeded any expectations I had as far as turnout goes.”

Let’s just say the WooSox game was mere batting practice compared to what’s in store for the guys on Monday. The Red Sox have declared their game against the Orioles as Section 10 Night at Fenway. The festivities begin at 3 p.m. with a two-hour meet-and-greet at the House of Blues where 300 limited edition Section 10 t-shirts will be given away to anyone showing they have the Underdog Fantasy app and have placed a wager on the game. Carrabis said the giveaway will be first-come, first-served as more than 2,000 Section 10 Night tickets have been sold by press time. From there, they’ll head to the park to throw out the first pitch.

Carrabis said the gang hopes to meet as many Section 10 fans as possible and that a special dunk tank will be set up featuring Milliken. There will also be special Section 10-themed attractions throughout the park. He expects the evening to be a “really special night from a sentimental standpoint.”

“To have that recognition from the Red Sox and knowing that it will be far and away the largest gathering of Section 10 fans that we’ve ever had at any event, I just can’t wait,” Carrabis said. “From wondering if we’d ever have the name back or the original cast of podcasters on the same show again to having all of it return and getting our own night at Fenway… it doesn’t get any better than that.”

The show addresses all things Red Sox and beyond. Truth be told, there are no holds barred as thousands of listeners are treated to both the serious and zany depending on what’s on the hosts’ minds – and, trust me on this, there are absolutely no filters.

Carrabis said that while the show is primarily a Red Sox podcast, some of the “all-time best moments” have nothing to do with the Red Sox. Among his favorites are the “SOGO (Suns Out, Guns Out)” and “Trash Island” shows.

“The Red Sox didn’t win a series for the first month of the 2019 season, so we refused to talk about the team until they won a series and [we] became a Phoenix Suns podcast,” Carrabis said. “There was an episode about ‘Trash Island’ that everyone still talks about. But getting the band back together has been everything we hoped it would be and so much more. We kind of just picked right back up where we left off and our fans came back ten fold, and I feel like the audience has even grown to where we’ve gotten new listeners with this new iteration of the show. It’s been a lot of fun.”

The meteoric rise of the show’s popularity has surprised even Carrabis.

“When we started the podcast, this was never something that we even thought of, nevermind was even possible,” Carrabis said. “It’s crazy to think of where we started to where the show is now. I feel like we’ve had multiple moments where we felt like we’ve peaked and then something else really cool happens to us, so we feel really lucky to have this experience coming up. It’s been a lot of fun.”
