Lynnfield’s football team (0-1) made its way to North Attleborough (2-0) for game No. 1 of its season, but ran into a big red wall in the Rocketeers, who escaped, 21-6, on Friday.
Ty Adamo connected with Jesse Dorman for a 25-yard touchdown pass, while Madux Iovinelli hauled in four catches for 80 yards. Jared Bernabei (5 tackles) and Spencer D’Augusta (5) played well on the defensive side of the ball, while Adamo threw for more than 150 yards to round out Pioneer positives.
Lynnfield – which had a rushing touchdown called back in the fourth quarter – visits Wakefield next Friday at 6 p.m. in search of its first win.

Cambridge Rindge & Latin 21
Saugus 14
The Saugus High football team made its debut on Friday, but fell to Cambridge Rindge & Latin, which came from behind on its home turf. The Sachems held a 14-7 halftime advantage with Cody Munafo scoring both touchdowns, but it was all Cambridge from there. The hosts scored two touchdowns in the third quarter, while neither side found the endzone in the fourth.

Londonderry 14
The Prep (2-0) had its way with Londonderry at Glatz Field, delivering an offensive explosion for the home faithful. Jordan Toribio (2 TD) opened the scoring, and the Eagles flew high from there.
Lynn’s Edwin Castro ran for a touchdown, Chris Vargas connected with Jack Shesterkin for a 43-yard score, and Merrick Barlow also found the endzone through the air. Deacon Robillard completed the scoring late.

Marblehead 13
After a season-opening defeat to Bishop Fenwick, Marblehead (0-2) failed to avenge itself, falling to King Philip on the road. The Magicians scored a touchdown in each half, but a 20-0 first-quarter hole was too much to climb out of.

St. Mary’s 1
Madison Botta (97 career points) scored two more goals and the Sachems topped St. Mary’s on home turf. Shawn Sewell also slotted home a goal.
“Our goalie, Tori Carter, played outstanding, saving 18 shots,” said first-year Saugus coach April Martinez. “She is the main reason we were able to pull out a win.”
Brooke Moloney got the Spartans on the board early, but that was all the offense for St. Mary’s.

Greta Siefken found the back of the net twice (both unassisted) as Swampscott’s girls soccer team topped Bishop Fenwick on Friday. Eve Byrne was between the pipes for a solid outing.
“Cecilia Tripp played well on defense and we also had solid performances from Maddie Goldman, Jane Raymond, and Lyla Rogers,” said second-year Swampscott coach Jaymie Caponigro.

Daniella White scored the lone Peabody goal on a penalty stroke with less than two minutes remaining in the game, but that’s as good as it got for the Tanners. Peabody’s Sophia Kassis saved 21 shots, while Leah Bresnahan picked up a strong defensive save in the second quarter.

Masconomet defended its home turf against the Sachems and earned a shutout victory on Friday. Mia Marques netted twice, while Mia Juliano chipped in a goal. Olivia Tsoukalas scored her first varsity goal for the Chieftains.

In set scores of 25-4, 25-9, and 25-6, Marblehead spiked Salem with Greta Sachs (8 kills, 2 blocks, 5 aces) leading the charge. Mari Modryznks (8 kills, 9 aces) played a strong game for Marblehead, which dominated the service line with 25 aces.

Swampscott hosted its first game of the fall, but was defeated in set scores of 24-26, 12-25, and 22-25. Jamie Andrews of the Big Blue delivered in the back row, going home with five kills and 14 service points.
