October 9, 2024 by Joey Barrett, Mark Aboyoun

Tuesday saw the Lynn Classical and Lynn English cross country programs square off in Lynn Woods. In the end, the Classical boys and English girls finished victorious against their traditional archrivals.

In the Rams’ 24-33 win, Elijah Morin impressed with a second-place finish, while Logan Sous and Mohamed Sheeita also ran well. The Lady Bulldogs pounced with a narrow 27-28 victory with Maddie McHale racing to first overall. Classical runners finished second, third, and fourth, but to no avail.

CROSS COUNTRY

Both the boys and girls teams of St. Mary’s fell to Archbishop Williams on Tuesday. Kelsey Kwiatek continued her strong season with another first-place finish, with Nina Lopes and Siena-Rose Summa close behind. On the boys’ side, top finishers were Lucian Paula, Cristian Rodriguez, and Savas Trellopoulos.

BOYS SOCCER

Manchester-Essex 1

No home field, no problem for Lynnfield, which doubled up Manchester-Essex in a close one.

“A very good win for us. We were down, 1-0, at the half,” said Lynnfield coach Brent Munroe. “Great games for all the defenders, especially Charlie Morgan.”

Joel Anthony and Matt Reinold tucked second-half goals to win it for the Pioneers.

Medford 2

With Classical “still missing some key pieces and continuing to battle to get back to full force,” according to coach Eric Moreno, his Rams were blanked by Medford on enemy turf. They return to action Thursday at Somerville (4:15 p.m.).
