Lynn Council names ADA leaders

October 17, 2024 by Kelan Flynn

LYNN — At a City Council meeting, councilors unanimously approved two Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) coordinators.

Mayor Jared Nicholson appointed the ADA coordinators via communication to the City Council, and the councilors approved the appointments.

Drew Russo, the city’s personnel director, will serve as the Title I ADA coordinator, handling requests and issues related to accessibility from municipal employees.

Russo said that he is looking forward to the role and to be working with Title II ADA coordinator James Lamanna, and the Disability Commission to “…ensure we are fully compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act.”

As Title II ADA coordinator, Lamanna will handle requests and issues related to accessibility from the public.

Russo said that he agrees with Mayor Nicholson’s “team approach,” which will be of benefit to both the city’s workforce and residents who access municipal facilities.

Lamanna expressed thankfulness for the role as Title II coordinator, saying that he has been working with the Disability Commission, serving as its legal counsel for the past several years. Lamanna said that the appointment will allow him to “to continue to assist persons with disabilities in the Lynn community.”
