Lila Giard (2 goals) and Olivia Quagrello (goal) got the job done in the goal-scoring department as Swampscott’s field hockey team raced to a 3-0 win against Peabody on Tuesday.
Audrey Heath, Meg Baran, and Lia Beatrice dished out assists, while Maisie Russo, Nola Conley, Emma Reen, and Victoria Piero played solid defense, according to Swampscott coach Courtney Russo.
Despite the road loss, Peabody goalie Sophia Kassis made 12 saves to keep the Tanners in it.
“Hard game for our team, but our right back, Panayiota Nikolouzos, stood strong,” said Peabody coach Jillian Tobin. “Her communication was a key element in today’s game.”

“Hannah Doherty did a really nice job for us on the outside mid today,” said coach Mark Vermont. “The girls did a really nice job moving the ball and creating good scoring opportunities.”

After a “slow start,” according to Marblehead coach Killeen Miller, her Magicians (11-6) rebounded from an 0-2 deficit to win in scores of 23-25, 16-25, 25-14, 25-20, and 15-13.
Sydney Faris was solid from the serving line, finishing with eight aces and adding five digs. Lila Moniz (13 kills), Greta Sachs (9), and Sammy Walker (6) stepped up offensively, while sophomore setters Erin Wilder (13 assists) and Sydney DaSilva (9) controlled the offense.

The Lady Rams (16-3) defended home hardwood in set scores of 25-9, 25-17, and 25-11. Mia Pento (14 digs, 2 aces, 2 assists) became the first member of Classical’s 500-dig club (508 career), while Emma Chevalier’s 26 assists made her the first member of the school’s 1,000-assist club (1,006 career).
“This was a solid win for us and people contributed all along the lineup,” said coach Chris LeBlanc. “Tonight was about the captains. They contributed to the team effort tonight, but they also hit some personal milestones as well. After Amanda (Hughes) went over 500 kills last night, tonight was Mia and Emma’s turn. Mia was solid on defense all night and surpassed 500 digs. Emma was really efficient running our offense and surpassed 1,000 assists for her career. All of these are milestones that have never been achieved at Classical, so we and they have a lot to be proud of tonight. We also raised some money for breast cancer, so it was a great night all-around.”
