MARBLEHEAD — The Select Board interviewed and appointed a new member to the Cultural Council, Joe Dipoli.
Dipoli currently works at Salem State University and was once a member of the Navy.
When asked why he wanted to get involved with the council, Dipoli said that his workload at Salem State had shrunk, and with more time on his hands, he wanted to get involved in the community.
“I love history, and I have acquired in my many years on this planet some competencies which I think I can use to my advantage to help the council,” he said.
Dipoli has taught at Salem State and public schools, worked as a teacher for the Red Cross for 20 years, and designed training programs for the Navy.
He feels that all of these experiences would make him a good fit for the council and that he would greatly enjoy being a part of it.
The Select Board quickly voted on the matter, unanimously agreeing to appoint Dipoli as the Cultural Council’s newest member.
