LYNN — The Fire Department responded to a report of a brush fire off of Fays Avenue on the Lynn and Salem line on Thursday afternoon, District Chief Joseph Zukas said.

A neighbor called and reported the brush fire approximately a quarter to a half-mile away into the woods from Fays Avenue, he said.

The FD knocked down approximately 15 to 20 smoldering hot spots, including burning tree trunks and bushes, Zukas said.

The department successfully knocked down the fires, but they may start up again tomorrow due to the conditions, he said. No houses or buildings are in danger and the FD will continue to monitor the area.
