When you gather all the cross-country runners in Lynn and have them compete, you’re bound for an awesome event. The Lynn City Cross Country meet took place on Monday and there was plenty to cheer about. Lynn Tech/KIPP boys took home the championship, while St. Mary’s took home first for the girls.
Lynn Tech/KIPP’s Franklin Rodriquez and St. Mary’s Kelsey Kwiatek both earned MVP honors after the event.
On the girl’s side, Kwiatek did what she’s been doing all season long — outrunning the competition. Kwiatek finished with an impressive time of 17:10 to claim first place.
Lynn Classical’s Mariana DeLeon took second with a 19:38, with Spartans Nina Lopes (20:32) and Siena-Rose Summa (21:08) rounding out the top four.
For the boys, it was a great day to be a Lynn Tech/KIPP fan.
Rodriquez claimed first with a 19:43 time (6:12 split). St. Mary’s fastest boy was Cristian Rodriguez who finished with a race time of 20:34. Four seconds behind Rodriguez was Lynn English’s Ian De La Rosa. Brandon Sok of Classical finished right behind with a 20:41 time.
Lynn Tech/KIPP boys took home first with 29 points, St. Mary’s earned 44 points, while Lynn Classical took home third place with 47 points.
