SAUGUS — The town has been faced with a large number of car accidents due to the presence of Route 1; however, Main Street has had a slew of its own recently.
On Nov. 8, three cars were involved in an accident on 346 Main St., which damaged a wall and fence. Ambulance 1 also had to dispatch a driver to Melrose Wakefield Hospital.
On Nov. 9, an officer had her cruiser struck on 104 Main St. at Vine Street. Thankfully, there wasn’t much damage to the vehicle.
The accidents would continue over the weekend.
To quote Laura Aller, a community member who posted on Facebook, “My husband and baby were in a pretty serious hit-and-run car accident tonight, and both went to the hospital.”
Aller stated that the car at fault was coming off Route 1 North and took the Main St. exit, hitting her husband’s car on the ramp. She said that the other driver was out of control due to how fast they were going and that her husband’s driver-side door was smashed. She is hoping that the person at fault is found.
Monday’s accident on Main Street was in front of the YMCA entrance and exit, and involved three cars.
Tuesday also saw the Main Street accidents continue, with a crash at the high school exit in the morning.
